Here are some tips to help you find and contact the law enforcement agency you or your loved one may have been victimized by.1.
Ask questions and make contactIf you or a loved one has been victimized, ask questions about the incident, including what happened.
This can include what you thought happened, how you felt about it, what happened in the first place and whether you or the person you’re talking to will ever be able for the same type of help.2.
Ask for copies of the police reportYou can also ask for copies from local police departments to see if they’re releasing the information.
You may be able get these from a local news outlet or from your local prosecutor.3.
Ask if your loved up has a lawyerIf you know someone who has been sexually assaulted or raped, or you know that someone who’s been sexually abused or raped may have a lawyer, ask them about the case and ask about their contact information.
This is also a good time to contact a survivor support group if you haven’t done so already.4.
Call a rape crisis centerIf you’ve been sexually victimized, and you or people you know have been the victim of a crime, call a rape or sexual assault crisis center to get help.
You or a person you know can call a support group to discuss the case.
These organizations are staffed with trained staff, and the staff are there 24/7 to help victims and their family members get the help they need.
